Resources for providers

  • Assessment
    We provide information and the ability to download a variety of measures for assessing trauma and PTSD. These measures are intended for use by qualified mental health professionals and researchers. Measures are divided into two groups: those authored by National Center staff and those by other organizations. See individual pages for how to obtain the measure. All of the measures authored by the National Center for PTSD are available for free.
  • Trauma, PTSD and Treatment
    The Trauma, PTSD and Treatment section provides information for providers on PTSD Essentials, Treatment Essentials, Types of Trauma, Specific Populations, Co-occurring Conditions, and Trauma Informed Care.
  • Continuing Education
    We have a wide range of in-depth continuing education courses covering different aspects of PTSD assessment, treatment and related topics. Free continuing education credits are available for most courses on TMS for VA provider and TRAIN for non-VA providers. See each course for details and links.
  • Consultation Program
    The PTSD Consultation Program supports VA providers and providers outside of the VA who are treating Veterans with PTSD. No question is too big or too small. We also offer a free monthly webinar: PTSD Consultation Program Lecture Series.

  • Tech into Care
    The Tech into Care section provides information for everyone interested in learning how to integrate technology into care for Veterans with the focus primarily on the suite of mobile mental health applications (apps) created by the National Center for PTSD.

  • Mobile Apps
    Our PTSD-related mobile applications (apps) provide self-help, education and resources. We also have treatment companion apps for people who are in therapy to use with their health care provider to make treatment easier. Includes PTSD Coach and PTSD Family Coach.
  • AboutFace
    An online video gallery that can be used as a teaching tool and resource to share with other providers, students, or clients.
  • PTSD Treatment Decision Aid
    This online tool helps users learn about and compare PTSD treatment options, offering tips on how to work with a provider to decide on a treatment plan. An updated version is being released in the fall of 2025.
  • Whiteboard videos
    Video animations on a variety of PTSD topics to help you learn about posttraumatic stress disorder.
  • Help with PTSD for You and Your Family – CRAFT PTSD
    Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) – Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a web-based course for family members of Veterans working to manage PTSD. This course teaches family members how to encourage their Veteran to get treatment and support them during care.
